Hey everyone, Ash here! Since our roadmap announcement last month, we’ve been working on our core elements to make the game ready for Alpha. Our weekly Patch Notes and Playtest Nights have been a huge help in reducing the amount of bugs in the game, which is a large step towards Alpha. I’m happy to announce that we’re approaching 400 bugs fixed with today’s patch. With that, we’ve also had completely bug free games internally! However, we’ve also begun development on much bigger things…
Our developers have been hard at work squashing bugs for the past couple months, so now that the game is more stable, we’ve begun splitting our time between bugs and a new gamemode: Draft. We want to release our Alpha with a little bit more than just a ranked ladder, so we’ve been developing Draft for our players who enjoy the variety and depth of Limited play. If you’re an experienced player in the card game sphere, you’ll already have an idea of what our Draft gamemode will be like. We’ve released our rules for this game in the past, but now that we’re beginning development for it on our Client, we’re revisiting how we can make our Draft feel like Chrono. We’re considering the economy side of Draft too, but we’ll have a greater focus on economy for our Beta release, so for the Alpha, Draft will be for fun over card collection.
Now, I don’t want to discredit the work that our Devs have already put in to make the Pre-Alpha softer on the eyes, but if you’ve seen the Pre-alpha you would know that our visuals aren’t exactly… polished. We want the Alpha to be a big upgrade from the Pre-Alpha, so we’ve also begun working with multiple studios to help us out. One of which is Envar Studios, who you may know from many other card games including Legends of Runeterra, The Lost Glitches and Marvel Snap. We don’t hate the board we’ve been playing on, but we really want a good board. One with all the bells and whistles. It’s too early in development for me to share any proper details, but it will absolutely be clickable.
Really, I probably shouldn’t even be sharing this. So let’s just keep this between us, yeah?
I mentioned that we were working with multiple studios. I really can’t talk about that yet, but you can know that we are working on getting VFX made for the game in a style that I’m very excited about.
Finally, we’re also beginning development of Set 2 for the game in earnest. It’ll be a while before you see any of it and by the time you do, we’ll already be working on Set 3 or 4. It’s worth noting that this is the design portion of Set 2, so we’re not taking away any resources from our devs as they continue to improve the current game. It also means that any cards posted in our Custom Cards channel on Discord these next couple weeks may or may not have some influence on our designers. ;)
I’ve got my own game to design though. Chrono Connections. Every month. Forever.
As always, thank you for supporting us and being a part of Chrono. Be on the lookout for future streams and start sharing some ideas you want to see in Set 2! You can find us on our socials below, see you again next month!
