March Dev Update

Hey everyone, Ash here, another month has flown by, and we’re excited to share our latest progress with you. We’ve been making great strides in development, and things are really starting to come together!

The biggest milestone this month is that we’ve successfully built the deck-builder! This is a major step towards completing the core gameplay loop, giving players the ability to craft and experiment with their own decks. A well designed deck-builder is crucial for a strategy game like ours, so we’re putting a lot of effort into making sure it’s as smooth, intuitive, and enjoyable as possible. Fortunately, around the same time we completed the deck-builder’s core functionality, we also received the UI assets for it! Now, the next step is implementing those assets into the game to bring the deck-builder to life visually. Once that’s done, it’ll not only be fully functional but also polished and cohesive with the rest of the game’s interface.

Alongside the deck-builder, we’ve also been busy adding the remaining cards into the game. You know, so there are things to build decks with. At this point, almost all 180 cards are in, though a few still need some extra attention. This month, we’re entering a QA phase where we’ll be testing every single card to ensure all abilities, effects, and interactions are working exactly as intended. Up until now, our playtesting has been limited to just two pre-built decks—each with about a dozen cards—so being able to test with the full range of cards is a huge expansion for us!

Beyond core gameplay mechanics, we’ve continued making steady progress on the UI and UX. This includes work on additional screens such as the Loading Queue and Deck Editor. We want to ensure that navigating menus, managing decks, and transitioning between matches feels fluid and hassle-free. We’ve also been adding quality of life features that improve readability and accessibility. One of the biggest additions is the Card Inspect feature. Now, when you inspect a card, you’ll be able to cycle through any related cards and see definitions of any keywords mentioned on it. You may have seen this in other games so you know how important it is for us to have for both new and experienced players.

That concludes this month’s update. Thank you as always for following us on this journey. Feel free to reach out to the team on our socials, linked below, and I can’t wait to talk to you again next month!
