Hey everyone, Ash here. Quick update this month as much of our work is continuing last month’s efforts.
State of the Board
Our board is finished and we’re currently in the process of placing it into our game. It’s not as simple as it may sound. We have to line up all of our UI assets to match the board, reconfigure our card sizes, set board animation to trigger at the correct time, add sound effects and much more I’m forgetting to name! The point is, the art side of the board is complete, now we’re working on making it fancy.

When is Alpha?
No release date yet. Our Pre-Alpha is very close to bug free and is close to tournament ready. I like to say that it is no longer a buggy game, but rather a game with some bugs. They’re less common and games are often played to completion. It’s great! On our roadmap we wanted Alpha to have:
-
New Gamemodes (Check!)
-
Improved UI (Working on it)
-
Ranked Ladder (Check!)
-
Tournaments (Check!)
-
New Board (Working on it)
So really that means once we have the board implemented and the UI to back it up, we’re good to go! We’re not ready to give a release date for Alpha yet, we’re going to need at least another month to see what progress we’ll be able to make in November. No promises but keep an eye out on next month’s Dev Update for an Alpha release date (we’ll also be sure to announce it everywhere else).
Alpha Anticipation Balance Patch
In case you missed it, this month we had a huge balance patch for our Pre-Alpha players. Chrono is a complicated game to begin with so we wanted to lower the mental strain from players by reducing card text on our cards where we could. That means this patch had over 80 cards with text changes to reduce the word count on cards and over 50 of them had a mechanical change attached to it. Many cards were nerfed, buffed and reworked altogether to make Chrono the best it can be for when we introduce it to more players. You can read more about the balance patch here.
You better catch up on those changes too, cause with so many cards being changed it’ll be almost impossible to ignore it for this month’s Chrono Connections.
Thanks again to all of our playtesters for helping us with everything you’ve been helping us with lately from bugs to balance patches to playing the game with us. Special shoutout to CAW and SilentArctic this month with the amazing work they’ve been putting into ChronoDB lately too. All of your support keeps us going.
